I understand that there is a new minimum wage for Connecticut. Does this mean that we have to update our labor law posters?

Yes. It is the responsibility of the employer to make sure that the labor law posters that they display in their workplaces are up to date and contain all of the necessary information that is required by the state of Connecticut. Because the state updated the minimum wage requirement on January 1, 2007, all employers across the state must also update their posters so that the new minimum wage reflects the new $7.65 per hour figure.

There are also some other Connecticut labor law posting notifications that you will need to post in order to be compliant:

Workers Compensation Act

Sexual Harassment

Minimum Wage

Discrimination Notice

Electronic Monitoring

Unemployment Poster

Additionally, all Connecticut employers are expected to post the federal labor laws that apply to their businesses, including:

The updated Federal Minimum Wage

USERRA – Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act

Equal Employment Opportunity is the Law

Employee Polygraph Protection Act

Family and Medical Leave Act

OSHA – Job Safety & Health Protection

IRS Withholding Notice

PayDay Notice

Anti-Discrimination Notice

Remember that when you post the labor law posters, they should be displayed in an area of the workplace that is clearly visible to all employees. You are responsible for making sure that they are always compliant by reflecting the latest labor laws. Also, if these labor law notification posters are in any way damaged or removed from the posting site, it is up to the employer to replace them promptly.

Also, you can purchase these posters separately or as one. For example, you can post a separate Connecticut state requirements poster and federal requirements poster, or you can post both the federal and state labor law requirements on the same poster.
