We are about to purchase some new labor law posters for our Georgia company and are looking for the labor law poster laws. Can you provide us with an overview?
Sure. As you might know, there are labor law posting requirements on a state level and on a federal level. As an employer, it is up to you to ensure that you adhere to these posting requirements. Here is a basic overview of some of the labor law posting requirements that you need to know about:
- Employers need to post both a state and federal labor law posters in the workplace. The state and federal labor law notifications might come on the same poster, or they could come on two separate posters.
- The posters need to be displayed in an area of the workplace that is clearly visible to all employees. Often, this type of area is an employee break room or other common area where all employees can have access to the posters when they want to.
- The posters need to reflect the most recent labor laws. These laws may change on an annual basis, but it is up to the employer to ensure that the labor law posters are up to date.
- The posters need to be immediately replaced in the event that they are damaged or removed.
Here are the specific Georgia state labor law posting requirements:
No Smoking Notice
Workers’ Compensation (Parts 1, 2 and 3)
Unemployment Insurance
Equal Pay for Equal Work Act
Vacation Notice
Workers’ Compensation Bill of Rights
And here are the federal posting requirements:
New 2007 Federal Minimum Wage
USERRA – Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act
Equal Employment Opportunity is the law
Employee Polygraph Protection Act
Family and Medical Leave Act
OSHA – Job Safety and Health Protection
IRS Withholding Notice
Payday Notice
Anti-Discrimination Notice
A great place to get both the state and federal posters, or to find both posting requirements combined on one poster for the state of Georgia, is www.laborlawcenter.com. CB
