It is time for us to move into our new Idaho office and we are going through all the final checks with all of the different labor departments. As far as labor law posters go, can you tell me more about what I need to know in order to be compliant with these federal posting regulations?

Sure. There are both federal as well as state labor law notifications that you will need to post in your Idaho office. In general, as an employer, it is your responsibility to ensure that all of the necessary labor law postings are displayed in a highly visible and accessible place in your office. Many employers choose to post the labor law posters in the employee break room so that employees can feel comfortable accessing the posters at their leisure whenever they would like to gain more information about a particular labor law.

You must post both the federal and the Idaho state labor laws in your workplace. Often, employers choose to get posters where both the federal and the state labor laws are on the same poster. However, if you would prefer to separate the federal and the state labor laws, you can get two separate posters. A great resource for those labor law posters is www.laborlawcenter.com.

Also, you should be aware that is your responsibility to ensure that the labor law posters in your workplace reflect the most recent labor laws in your state and in the federal government. Because the federal minimum wage was updated in 2007, you will want to be sure that the labor law posters that you have reflect that recent update. You must replace these posters when there is a change in the laws, when the posters are removed, or when the posters are damaged.

As far as the specifics of each labor law notification go, you should be aware that the Idaho state labor law notification requirements are as follows:

Unemployment Insurance

Minimum Wage

Workers’ Compensation

Discrimination Notice

And the federal labor law notification requirements are as follows:

New 2007Federal Minimum Wage

USERRA – Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act

Equal Employment Opportunity is the Law

Employee Polygraph Protection Act

Family and Medical Leave Act

OSHA – Job Safety & Health Protection

IRS Withholding Notice

Payday Notice

Anti-Discrimination Notice CB
