Can a hotel employee be docked pay for entering a discounted or wrong room rate into the computer system.
Manager wants to take large amounts of money from employees who enter coupons and discounts by mistake.It depends upon the state, but in most cases this will not be legal. The employer could discipline or even fire employees for such a mistake, but usually the employee must be paid the agreed rate for every hour worked.
Under federal law, this would be illegal if it resulted in the employee earning less than the federal minimum wage.
