I work at McDonalds and we work sometimes 4-5 hrs (this has been longer at times) before getting a break. We get two 15 min breaks and no lunch. What is the law in Illinois on breaks, lunch and number of hrs worked.
Illinois requires that every employee in general industry who works a shift of 7.5 hours or more receive an unpaid meal break of at least 20 minutes. This break must be given within 5 hours of the beginning of the shift. Workers under 18 are entitled to additional breaks, under state and federal law. Illinois does not require shorter rest breaks for workers in most occupations.
