I quit my job and did not give notice because I felt they were pushing me out the door. When I quit I had 40hrs vacation time, but when I called my manager she said because I left the company would not pay my vacation time. Yes they have paid other employees that walked out vacation time. What can I do?
You can contact your state department of labor. You don’t mention which state you are in, but in some states, if the employer has a past practice of paying unused vacation time to terminated workers in similar circumstances, the state will take steps to collect for you. In other states, you will have to take the employer to small claims court or hire a lawyer to be paid.
