With baby bonding FMLA can you break the weeks up?
I was wondering if I were to go out on baby bonding for 4 weeks in September can I use the other 8 weeks at a different time during the year? Or do I have to use it all at one time 12 weeks in a row?
Under federal FMLA regulations, baby bonding does not all have to be taken at one time. Many employers would be thrilled to have an employee return after 4 weeks and use the additional time at a later date, within the baby’s first year. If you are pregnant, be aware that you may be on short term disability for 4 to 6 weeks after childbirth — so you would not be released to work during that period, by your doctor. Of course, if you are adopting that doesn’t apply.
