Transfering Sick Pay, Vacation Days to A Co-worker
In the state of West Virginia, are employees allowed to transfer any unused sick days or vacation days to a co-worker who will not be able to work because of a medical condition requiring extended treatments? It’s so that the co-worker will still be able to receive some pay while away from work.
This is entirely a matter of company policy unless there is a union contract in place. There is no state law in West Virginia that an employer must allow this. A few larger, progressive employers permit employees to transfer their sick and vacation days to coworkers, but they are in the minority.
