I moved to GA fm NJ. Is there anything such Short Term Disability for women in GA, if you are out for 4-8 weeks for maternity leave?

Does the state or the employer have a short term disabilty program that pays women when they are out on maternity leave 60% of their pay or some kind of percentage while on Maternity leave?

I know NJ has this program at state level, does GA?

Please advise.

Only 5 states in the US have mandated short term disability. Georgia is not one of them (New Jersey is, but you already knew that.) Some companies offer employees the option of purchasing short term disability insurance, but if you had that you would probably know about it. (And you can’t sign up for it after you’re already pregnant, and collect maternity benefits.) A few larger employers offer some type of paid maternity leave or short term disability, but the majority do not. Under federal law, employers with more than 50 workers must provide up to 12 weeks of  job-protected leave under FMLA, but this is unpaid. Read more about FMLA here: http://www.dol.gov/esa/whd/fmla/
