Old 401k plan

How long do you need to keep records from an old 401K plan that you no longer have?

Most employment records must be kept for one to three years. However, for 401k plans, because of the fiscal responsibility involved, they should be kept for 7 to 9 years. If storage space is a problem, they can be transferred to digital media.
