If an employee is still within our 90 day introductory period and they give two weeks notice, are we obligated to pay them for the notice period if we decide to terminate the employee before the end of the two weeks?

No, you are never obligated to permit an employee to work out their 2 weeks notice, or to pay them for it, regardless of how long the employee has worked for your company. When an employee gives two weeks notice, the employer always has the option of releasing the employee immediately. Under the federal FLSA or Fair Labor Standards Act  and state minimum wage laws, the employee is entitled to payment for the time he or she worked, and no more.
