States that Require a Termination Letter

We provide employees with a follow up leter regarding final pay, benefits continuation (COBRA, 401(k), etc. However, I have an employee in FL asking for a reason for termination letter. Thus, what states is a termination letter required and what does the content of the letter need to contain?
Many employers have questions on this issue. Florida does not require employers to give workers a letter of termination. If memory serves, only Missouri requires employers to deliver this information, in writing, to terminated employees. The Missouri letter of dismissal must include the dates of employment, nature and character of work, and the reason for termination. This Missouri law applies only to corporations (not to other business structures like partnerships) and the emplyer has 45 days to deliver it.
If there are other states you are specifically interested in, post another question and we will research them for you. Otherwise, your procedure sounds very through.
