What are the different employment laws that a human resource professional needs to know about in his daily job
Wow, that is a very broad question! In general, an HR pro needs to be aware of federal laws that cover most employers, such as the Fair Labor Standards Act (minimum wage) and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits discrimination and others.
The HR pro also needs to be aware of state employment laws in any state where the company does business. Some municipalities also have employment laws the HR pro needs to be aware of.
In addition, the HR pro needs to be aware of worker safety regulations created by OSHA or a similar state agency, and of industry-specific regulations imposed by various agencies such as the Department of Transportation and the FAA.
