What is the max hours for part time status in the state of Ohio in the year 2010. In other word what are the hours for part time.

Full-time and part-time status are matters of company policy, not of employment law in Ohio or any other state. Generally, the law does not recognize any difference between a full-time employee or a part-time one. Both must be paid the minimum wage, overtime, etc. So there is no law that establishes an upper limit on the number of hours that a part-time employee can work.

Some companies would consider anyone who works more than 24 hours per week full-time and others would consider an employee who works 39 hours per week part-time. Normally the number of hours worked is averaged over a period of 3 months, to determine the employees status. So working 40 hours one week does not make the employee full-time.

Full-time and part-time status come into play mostly when considering benefits, because many employers do not offer group health insurance to part-time employees.
