What is absenteeism and definitions by different scholars?
According to dictionary.com, absenteeism is *frequent or habitual absence from work, school, etc.* In the US, each employer defines absenteeism for their business, and *excessive absenteeism* is cause for termination. One employer may consider 8 absences per year *excessive* while another might consider 3 absences per year too many. As long as the employer applies this policy consistently, it is completely lawful.
