Is there any data showing national averages on manufacturing jobs for the % of OT hours to regular hours worked?
I know each plant is different but are there any averages published?

Yes. Such data is available from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the government agency that specializes in collecting all types of statistics and data regarding employment, payroll and labor.

According the preliminary data for 2011, on average manufacturing (or goods-producing) non-supervisory employees in the U.S. worked 40.9 hours per week. That would mean that on average, less than 2.5% of manufacturing hours worked are overtime and less than 3.75% of wages paid are overtime. Obviously, this number varies widely depending upon the industry, management philosophy and business model.Interestingly enough, this is about the same as in 1966, although there have been fluctuations in the intervening years.
