What is the law for Salary employee on Vacation or PTO? I heard that if a Salary manager come in for a few hours we are too pay him regular time for the day? I would really like to know the law on this.

The U.S. Department of Labor, Wage and Hour Division states that exempt employee are paid a predetermined salary, not on a hourly bases, therefore their pay cannot be fluctuate. However, they further state that exempt employees who are absent from work for less than a day for personal reasons, are required to substitute paid leave (vacation, sick or PTO time). If however, they have exhausted vacation, sick or PTO time you can not dock their pay, for partial day absences.
