Over 50 Employees

We are a small business in Ohio. We have just gone over 50 employees. Are there any specific / updated laws that change when a company has over 50 employees?

The following laws need to be followed when you reach the 50 employee mark:

· FMLA – requires the employer to provide up to 12 workweeks of unpaid, job protected leave a year and requires group health benefits to be maintained during the leave.

· Affirmative Active – Under Executive Order 11246 employers who have 50 plus employees and $50,000 in government contracts must have an Affirmative Acton Plan. If you do not have any government contracts you will not have to worry about Affirmative Action.

You must continue to follow all other laws that pertain to businesses with fewer than 50 employees.
