If we have an employee working for us and this is her first job is she entitled to unemployment if she only worked for us for 4 months and we have to let her go?

Typically, unemployment makes a determination based on how much money an employee earned and how long they earned it. Unemployment goes by base period and it is normally the fifteen month period starting on the day the employee files for unemployment. The most recent three month period is not counted, therefore the twelve months or 4 quarters are counted and an employee must have earnings in at least two quarters.

You should contact the Unemployment office for any clarification or requirements in your specific state.
