Vacation Pay in PA

If an employee is fired are we required to pay them vacation pay in PA?

Neither Pennsylvania nor federal laws require an employer to provide its employees with paid time off benefits such as sick or vacation pay. However, if an employer chooses to provide such a benefit, it must follow its established policy or procedure.

Employers in Pennsylvania are free to adopt and implement a vacation policy of their choosing including if employees will receive vacation pay at termination and the eligibility for receiving such pay. Thus, if the employer doesn’t have a policy or practice of paying earned vacation time at termination, then there is no obligation to do so.
