Smoking Distance from Buildings

What is the legal distance from a building that a person is allowed to smoke?

There is no nation-wide legal distance from a building that a person is permitted to smoke. Smoking laws vary from state to state with some counties, cities and towns enacting their own laws as well. Furthermore, employers, either in addition to or in the absence of state laws, often adopt smoke free workplace policies with their own restrictions on the permissible distance from a building for smoking.

Generally speaking, smoking is often prohibited within 15-20 feet from the entrance of a building, operable windows and ventilation systems.
