Christmas Sunday 2016

Christmas is Sunday this year. By law, does employer have to give the Monday off or offer a floater day?

Actually, there is no federal law that requires private employers to give their employees time off for any holidays, let alone the day after a holiday or a floater day. Holiday pay is considered an agreement between employer and employee.

It’s fairly common for employers to recognize federal or official holidays but, again, there is no requirement for them to give employees the day off or compensate them extra for working.
