Original Hire Date

We have an employee that we hired as a temp. After about 9 months she was offered a full time position. What should we use as her original hire date as far as seniority? She was not hired through a temp agency. We contacted her directly. She was on our payroll from the date she was hired as a temp.

Since the employee was on your payroll as a temp then the date she was hired with your company should be used. Now, if she worked for you through a temp agency or as an independent contractor that would be different. In either of those cases, the day she started as an employee with your company would be used as the hire date.
