Job Postings

Can we post a position internally without ever posting it externally?

Absent a collective bargaining agreement stating otherwise, private employers are free to post positions as they deem necessary. This may include only posting a position internally with the hopes of finding an internal applicant.

Some federal contractors are required to post open positions via specified labor postings and some state contractors may have similar obligations.

It’s advisable for employers to adopt their own internal and external recruiting policies and procedures to be consistently followed.
